After some life changing experiences which forced me to rebuild myself on new grounds, I realized how fundamental it is to mine the Diamond that I am. Being mindful and accepting of who I am, why I’m here, where I am going and how everything that happens in my life is meant to empower me to be who I have been created to be, fulfill my purpose and impact lives in my own unique way, are the first steps in the mining process. It grants me discerning eyes to see below the surface of my life occurrences and recognize the benefits they could bring, despite the hurt, discomfort, and hardships. Because fact is, that the best and most lasting life lessons that will add sparkle to our lives, come from the (right) cut and polishing experiences. That is how I was inspired to write about my experiences and the lessons I was able to mine out of them.
And about the name?
I have been called a Diamond several times these past few years by different people. That made me curious about the whole mining process for diamond stones. Well, my research led to some very interesting discoveries. While I do not believe in birthstones, it was fun to discover that the stone representing the month of April, which is my birth month, is a diamond.
However, my research led to a paramount revelation: the astonishing parallel between the life of a diamond stone and humans. Mind you, I really love to extract life applications by comparisons. The whole process from ore to gem that a diamond stone goes through is reflected in our lives as human Diamonds too. It was then that I clearly understood that the reason I’m being called a Diamond is because I permitted my life experiences, both the good and the bad, to shape me and allow me to sparkle by reflecting light. Hence my motivation to help women understand that you have the choice to either let life break you or make you.
I chose the latter. And you?
